Season 1965-66 is the first season Liverpool FC adopted an all-red kit for their home League matches. Before the 1965-66 season, Liverpool FC’s home kit consisted of red shirts paired with white shorts and white socks. In 1964, the Legendary manager Bill Shankly made a bold decision to replace the traditional white shorts with all-red ones. His reasoning was not merely aesthetic; he believed that an all-red kit would have a psychological impact on the opposition—red symbolizing danger and power. The psychological edge gained from the uniform change was evident in Liverpool’s performances. Since then the the red jersey has become synonymous with passion, tradition, and success at Anfield.
