Chelsea have completed the signing of Ecuador international Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a British transfer record fee of £100 million. The 21-year-old midfielder has agreed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with a club option of a further year.

According to the BBC, if Chelsea pay the full £115m fee it would mean they break the British club record twice in 2023, following the £107m purchase of Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January.

Caicedo is a highly-rated young midfielder who has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time. He made his name in South America Football with Independiente del Valle, before moving to Brighton in February 2021 for £4 million. He made 24 appearances for the Seagulls in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal.

Caicedo is a versatile midfielder who can play in a number of positions, including as a defensive midfielder, a central midfielder, and a box-to-box midfielder. He is known for his strong tackling, his passing ability, and his work ethic.

Caicedo is Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from Brighton. The Blues are also expected to sign a number of other players in the coming weeks, as they look to challenge for the Premier League title and the Champions League next season.

Caicedo’s arrival is a major coup for Chelsea and it shows that the club is still committed to investing in young talent. He is a player with a lot of potential and he will be hoping to make a big impact at Stamford Bridge in the years to come and is a major boost to Chelsea’s current squad.
