Roma beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday night, a result that lifts them to 13th in the Champions League league phase table after three matches.
Slovan, who had no shot on target all night, remain pointless in 36th.
The goals that decided it
Mario Hermoso opened the scoring after 21 minutes, with Daniele Ghilardi credited with the assist. Nahuel Molina made it 2-0 in the 39th minute.
Roma added two more within six minutes of the restart. Niccolò Pisilli scored in the 52nd minute from a Donyell Malen assist, and Malen then scored a penalty in the 58th minute to complete the scoring.
Slovan collected three yellow cards: Tigran Barseghyan in the 20th minute, Suleiman Camara in the 65th and Cristian Martínez in the 75th.
What the numbers say
The statistics reflect a one-sided match. Roma had 73% of possession and took 26 shots, 10 of them on target, 10 off target and six blocked. Slovan managed one shot in total, off target.
Roma also won the corner count 8-1 and were flagged offside four times to Slovan's once. Fouls were level at 10 each.
The result changes Roma's season figures. They now average 2.67 goals per game and concede 1.67, with 1.33 points per game and one clean sheet. Both sides have five yellow cards this season.
Roma had arrived on the back of a 1-1 draw at Fenerbahçe and a 4-3 home defeat by Real Madrid. Slovan had lost 6-1 at PSG and 3-0 at home to Stuttgart. There were no recent meetings between the clubs to draw on.
What it means in the table
Roma have four points from three matches, with one win, and a goal difference of plus three. That puts them 13th. In the league phase, the top eight go straight into the last 16, while teams from ninth to 24th go into the knockout play-offs. Roma are inside that play-off band.
Liverpool lead the table with nine points from three wins and a goal difference of plus five.
Slovan's position is far bleaker. They have lost all three matches, scored one goal and conceded 13, giving a goal difference of minus 12. They average 0.33 goals per game and concede 4.33, and they have not kept a clean sheet.
Roma's attention now turns to building on a night when they scored four and were never threatened. For Slovan, the task is to find a way to create chances, having managed one shot in Rome.
