With Everton staring relegation in the face, the club owner is open to selling the club. For a figure of over £500 million, Farhad Moshiri is willing to sell the club.

The situation is dire for Everton. In the last couple of years, the Merseyside club has struggled to maintain its Premier League status. Their condition is worse this term as the club totters in the relegation zone. Despite all the efforts to steer them away from their current position, it has gone from bad to worse.

Farhad Moshiri is not enjoying the best of times at the club and seems fed up with the situation. The club owner seems short of ideas for moving the club forward. Simply put, Moshiri is frustrated at the lack of success suffered by the club and is considering letting someone else try his hands at running the club.

Everton is a shadow of city rivals Liverpool, and Moshiri has just learned that the hard way. Following the recent spiral in fortune plus the fans’ dissatisfaction following their lack of success, Moshiri is now open to selling the club.

Moshiri wants to sell Everton

These are desperate times for Everton. Amid their relegation woes, the club owner seems to have had enough of the shenanigans at the club. talkSPORT reports that Moshiri is willing to sell the club. The British-Iranian billionaire owner, who became the majority shareholder in February 2016, has not been on good terms with the fans.

A few reports suggested that Moshiri wanted outside partners to invest in the team. Perhaps failure to land what he sought has added to his frustrations leading to his latest decision.

Dissatisfied with the lack of success, talkSPORT understands that the British-Iranian billionaire owner is willing to part ways with the club. The Guardian reports that Moshiri is looking for offers of more than £500 million.

According to the reports, Deloitte has received instructions to handle the potential sale of the club. The sale instructions are yet to be confirmed. The club has spent about £700 million on 50 players under Moshiri, with a little over £400 million recouped in sales. The question now is, what is the way forward for Everton?

A club in disarray

While Moshiri is looking for takers for Everton, the sale is at crossroads for Everton as their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock is still under construction. The cost of the stadium is estimated to cost about £550m. The last three sets of accounts for the club show a combined loss of £372.6m.

Everton recently sent club manager Frank Lampard packing after a string of poor results. According to Jim White of talkSPORT, Everton is in danger of dropping to the Championship. Relegation to the lower league would affect the asking price of the club.

The main takeaway from the leadership of Moshiri is the lack of stability. The owner has overseen six permanent managers (and three caretaker managers).

The club has made several poor signings that have seen the club continue on a steady decline. The club narrowly avoided relegation last season and is in a desperate battle to maintain its Premier League status this season.

Moshiri is also not loved by the fans, and a sale would satisfy them.
