Kacor's 90th-minute equaliser rescues Slavia Praha at Fenerbahçe

Fenerbahçe threw away a two-goal lead as Pavel Kacor's goal on 90 minutes earned Slavia Praha a 2-2 draw at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium (Chobani Stadium) on League phase matchday 3 of the Champions League.

Fast start, late sting

The home side were ahead inside four minutes. Oğuz Aydın scored with Milan Skriniar providing the assist. Seven minutes later it was two, Mason Greenwood finishing from a Nélson Semedo assist on 11 minutes.

Slavia answered quickly. Lukas Provod made it 2-1 on 15 minutes, and that was how the match stayed until the final moments.

Fenerbahçe collected bookings as they tried to protect their lead: N'Golo Kanté (31 minutes), Skriniar (49) and Ismail Yüksek (88) were all cautioned. Slavia's Wiktor Nowak was booked on 60.

Then came the late twist. Emmanuel Ayaosi set up Kacor, who scored on 90 minutes to level the match.

What the numbers say

The statistics show a balanced contest. Each side had 15 shots and four on target, and each scored twice. Possession was almost even, with Slavia on 51% and Fenerbahçe on 49%.

  • Shots off target: Fenerbahçe 9, Slavia Praha 5
  • Blocked shots: Fenerbahçe 2, Slavia Praha 6
  • Corners: Fenerbahçe 3, Slavia Praha 5
  • Fouls: Fenerbahçe 12, Slavia Praha 15

Fenerbahçe were the more wasteful, sending nine efforts off target, while Slavia had six shots blocked. After the early flurry of goals, the next one did not arrive until the 90th minute.

Recent meetings between these clubs have also produced goals. Slavia won 3-2 and 3-2 in two games in February 2022, with Fenerbahçe winning 2-1 away in November 2024. Tuesday's draw adds a fourth meeting without a goalless scoreline.

What it means in the table

Neither side has won in the league phase. Fenerbahçe are 25th with two points from three games and a goal difference of -6. That leaves them outside the top 24, who qualify for the knockout play-offs or better.

Slavia Praha are 29th with one point from three and a goal difference of -3.

The numbers across the season so far underline the pressure on both. Fenerbahçe average one goal and concede three per game, giving them 0.67 points per game. Slavia average 1.33 scored and 2.33 conceded, with 0.33 points per game. Neither club has kept a clean sheet.

For Fenerbahçe, the draw feels like two points dropped after such a fast start. For Slavia, it is a first point of the night that could yet matter in a congested lower half of the table.
