Inter beat Feyenoord 3-0 at De Kuip on Tuesday night, with goals from Yann Bisseck, Pio Esposito and Piotr Zielinski on League phase matchday 4 of the Champions League.
Feyenoord had as much of the ball as Inter and the same number of shots. Inter were far sharper with theirs.
Early goal sets the tone
Hakan Calhanoglu was booked after three minutes, but the first real moment belonged to Inter five minutes later. Bisseck scored in the 8th minute, with Djed Spence providing the assist.
Esposito made it 2-0 in the 34th minute. The facts show no assist for that goal.
Gjivai Zechiël of Feyenoord and Inter's Manuel Akanji were both booked in the 39th minute, and Inter went into the break two goals clear.
The third came nine minutes after the restart. Zielinski scored in the 54th minute from a Nicolò Barella assist, and there were no further goals.
What the numbers say
Possession favoured Feyenoord, 53% to 47%, and they won the corner count 5-4. Both sides had 11 shots in total.
The difference came in accuracy. Inter put six shots on target to Feyenoord's two. Feyenoord had five shots off target to Inter's two, and four of their efforts were blocked, against three of Inter's.
- Shots on target: Feyenoord 2, Inter 6
- Shots off target: Feyenoord 5, Inter 2
- Fouls: Feyenoord 7, Inter 13
- Offsides: Inter 2
Inter also committed almost twice as many fouls, 13 to 7, but the three goals made that a minor point.
What it means in the table
Inter are 14th in the league-phase table on six points from four games, with two wins and a goal difference of +2. That is inside the places from ninth to 24th, which lead to the knockout play-offs. The top eight go straight through to the last 16.
Feyenoord are 30th with three points from four games, one win and a goal difference of -7. They sit outside the top 24. Their season average of 2.75 goals conceded per game explains much of that, and they have not kept a clean sheet in the competition.
PSG lead the table with nine points from three wins and a goal difference of +9. Slovan Bratislava are 36th and last, without a point.
Inter have now won both of their recent meetings with Feyenoord, 2-0 away and 2-1 at home in March 2025, and this result extends that run.
MFF's match model had predicted a 2-1 home win, giving Feyenoord a 40% chance, the draw 24% and Inter 35%. It got this one wrong.
