Bodø/Glimt and Lille played out a goalless draw at the Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday night, a result that did little to ease the pressure on either side in the Champions League league phase.
There were no goals, and the only entry in the match events was a yellow card for Lille's Nathan Ngoy in the 83rd minute.
A point each, and a first clean sheet for Lille
Both teams arrived on poor runs. Bodø/Glimt had lost 5-0 at Bayern and 4-3 at Napoli either side of a 1-0 home win over Dortmund. Lille had lost 3-2 at home to Betis, 3-0 at Arsenal and 4-2 at home to Galatasaray.
The draw changed the defensive numbers. It was Lille's first clean sheet of the season, after they had conceded ten goals in their previous three games. For Bodø/Glimt it was a second clean sheet, following the win over Dortmund.
What the numbers say
Lille had the greater share of the shooting. They had nine shots to Bodø/Glimt's four, with three on target, five off target and one blocked.
The hosts were far more precise. All four of their attempts were on target, and none went wide or was blocked. Lille also won more corners, four to three.
Possession was almost even, with Bodø/Glimt on 51% and Lille on 49%. The hosts committed more fouls (12 to 8) and were flagged offside three times, while Lille were not flagged at all.
MFF's match model had expected a comfortable home win, with Bodø/Glimt 3-0 winners and a 79% chance of a home victory. It got this one wrong.
What it means in the table
Bodø/Glimt move to four points from four games and sit 20th. That is inside the knockout play-off places, which run from ninth to 24th, but their goal difference is -5. Only the top eight go straight through to the last 16.
Lille are in a much tougher spot. They have one point from four games, no wins and a goal difference of -6. That leaves them 34th, outside the top 24 and just two places above Slovan Bratislava, who are bottom on zero points after three games.
Both sides average a goal per game this season. Bodø/Glimt have conceded 2.25 per game and Lille 2.5, so the shutout was a welcome change for each.
PSG lead the table with nine points from three wins.
