Harry Kane has added another extraordinary chapter to his England career, equalling Peter Shilton’s all-time appearance record and scoring twice as the Three Lions defeated Czechia 3-0 at Wembley.
The England captain made his 125th appearance for England on 6 October 2026, drawing level with legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton at the top of the England men’s all-time caps list.
Kane then marked the historic occasion in the perfect way, scoring twice to take his England goals tally to an incredible 91 goals.
The Bayern Munich striker is now just one appearance away from becoming the outright most-capped England men’s player.
Harry Kane’s England Records
Kane’s latest performance has strengthened his position as one of the most statistically remarkable players in England history.
| England Record | Harry Kane’s Total |
|---|---|
| England appearances | 125 |
| England goals | 91 |
| England men’s all-time caps ranking | Joint 1st |
| England men’s all-time goalscorer | 1st |
| FIFA World Cup goals | 14 |

Kane is already England’s all-time leading goalscorer, having overtaken Wayne Rooney in March 2023 when he scored his 54th international goal.
His latest two goals against Czechia have extended his lead over Rooney to 38 goals, with Rooney finishing his England career on 53.
Harry Kane Equals Peter Shilton’s 125 England Caps
Kane’s 125th appearance brings him level with Peter Shilton, whose England appearance record had stood since his international career ended in 1990.
Shilton represented England for two decades, making 125 appearances between 1970 and 1990.
Kane has now matched that total just over 11 years after making his England debut against Lithuania in March 2015.
His journey began at Wembley, and it was fitting that Kane equalled Shilton’s record at the same stadium.
Kane’s 125th cap also means he is comfortably England’s most-capped outfield player. Wayne Rooney is third on the men’s all-time list with 120 appearances, followed by David Beckham on 115 and Steven Gerrard on 114.
Harry Kane Now Has 91 England Goals
While the appearance record was the headline achievement, Kane also produced another milestone performance in front of the Wembley crowd.
After entering the match with 89 England goals, Kane scored twice against Czechia to move onto 91 international goals.
The brace means Kane has now scored 91 goals in 125 appearances for England, an extraordinary scoring record for an international career spanning more than a decade.
England’s all-time goalscoring charts now have Kane comfortably at the top, with Wayne Rooney second on 53 goals.
Harry Kane’s England Goalscoring Record
Kane became England’s record goalscorer when he scored his 54th goal against Italy in March 2023.
Since then, he has continued to extend the record and establish an increasingly significant lead over the other great goalscorers in England history.
His 91 goals have come across a variety of competitions, including the FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championship, World Cup qualifying, European Championship qualifying, UEFA Nations League and international friendlies.
His World Cup record is particularly impressive. Kane has scored 14 goals at FIFA World Cup finals, including six goals when he won the 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot.
Harry Kane and the UEFA Nations League
Kane’s latest milestones have come during England’s 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaign.
England’s 3-0 victory over Czechia followed a remarkable 7-0 victory over Croatia, with Kane playing a starring role in England’s impressive run.

When Will Harry Kane Break England’s Appearance Record?
Kane will have the opportunity to become the outright record holder when England return to action in November.
England are scheduled to face Croatia at Wembley on 12 November 2026, meaning Kane could break Shilton’s 125-cap record in front of the home supporters.
If selected, Kane’s 126th England appearance would make him the most-capped men’s player in Three Lions history.
That would give Kane sole possession of a record that has stood for more than three decades.
