Premier League Shirt Sponsors 1992-93 to 2026-27

Every front-of-shirt sponsor worn in the Premier League since the competition kicked off in August 1992 is listed on this page, season by season, for all 51 clubs to have appeared in the division. The three tables below trace the whole commercial history of the English top flight, from the Japanese electronics firms and regional brewers of the early 1990s, through the betting boom of the 2010s, to 2026-27: the first season played under the league’s ban on gambling brands on the front of matchday shirts.

Shirt sponsorship has always shadowed the money in the game. The brands change with the sponsor market rather than with the football, which is why a club can win the title in one decade and carry a completely different type of partner in the next. For the football side of that story, see our full record of Premier League winners by year.

Premier League Shirt Sponsor Quick Facts

• Longest unbroken partnership: Emirates and Arsenal, on the shirt every season since 2006-07.
• Fewest sponsors: Liverpool have used just two in 35 seasons, Carlsberg then Standard Chartered.
• Most changes among the ever-presents: Manchester United, with seven different front-of-shirt partners since 1992.
• Biggest shift: 2026-27 is the first Premier League season with no betting brand on the front of any shirt.

The record is split across three tables covering 1992-93 to 2001-02, 2002-03 to 2011-12 and 2012-13 to 2026-27. Blank cells mean the club was not in the Premier League that season, while “No sponsor” marks a season played with a plain shirt front. Where a club carried different branding in cup competitions, both are shown.

What Changed for 2026-27: The Gambling Sponsorship Ban

In April 2023 all 20 Premier League clubs collectively agreed to withdraw gambling sponsorship from the front of matchday shirts, the first UK sports league to do so voluntarily. The agreement followed consultation with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and clubs were given three seasons to transition away. That runway expired at the end of 2025-26, so 2026-27 is the first campaign played under the new rule.

The ban is narrower than the headlines suggested. It covers the front of matchday shirts only: betting brands can still appear on sleeves, on training kit, on LED hoardings and as official club partners. Around eight clubs carried gambling shirt sponsors when the agreement was signed, deals reported to be worth roughly £60m a year between them, and the sectors that replaced them, largely finance, technology and travel, have generally paid less. Several clubs went into the new season still finalising a replacement, which is why a small number of cells in the 2026-27 column are yet to be confirmed.

Longest-Running Premier League Shirt Sponsors

A handful of partnerships have outlasted managers, owners and entire squads. The deals below are counted in consecutive Premier League seasons on the front of the shirt, up to and including 2026-27.

Liverpool are the outlier. Across 35 Premier League seasons they have worn only two names on the front of the shirt, Carlsberg from the opening season until 2009-10 and Standard Chartered ever since. Manchester United sit at the other end of the scale, moving from Sharp to Vodafone, AIG, Aon, Chevrolet, TeamViewer and now Qualcomm Snapdragon.

The Four Eras of Premier League Shirt Sponsorship

Electronics and brewers, 1992 to 2000

The first Premier League shirts were a snapshot of early-90s British consumer life: Sharp, JVC, NEC, Brother and Sanderson from the technology sector, McEwan’s Lager, Holsten, Carlsberg and Newcastle Brown Ale from the breweries, and local employers such as Peugeot at Coventry City and Walkers at Leicester City. Deals were modest, often regional, and clubs regularly changed partner every two or three seasons.

Telecoms, dotcoms and finance, 2000 to 2010

Vodafone’s arrival at Manchester United in 2000-01 marked the point at which shirt sponsorship became a global media buy rather than a local partnership. Mobile networks (One2One, NTL, O2, BT Cellnet), airlines (Emirates, Etihad Airways, Thomas Cook) and financial institutions (AIG, Northern Rock, Standard Chartered, Friends Provident) dominated, with the dotcom wave leaving short-lived names such as Dreamcast, Elonex and Dial-a-Phone behind.

The betting boom, 2010 to 2026

From the early 2010s onwards, gambling operators became the single most visible sector on Premier League shirts, and many of them were aimed at Asian markets rather than British ones: 188BET, SportPesa, Fun88, ManBetX, Dafabet, W88, SBOTOP, Betway, Stake.com and Hollywoodbets all appear in the tables above. At the peak, more than half the division carried a betting brand on the shirt front.

Finance, tech and travel, 2026-27 onwards

The 2026-27 column reads very differently. Finance and fintech lead the way, joined by technology firms, airlines and tourism boards. Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town all begin the season with new partners in Monzo, Corendon Airlines and Halo Service Solutions, while Leeds United carry Red Bull and Aston Villa switch to Visit Rwanda.

Clubs That Played Without a Shirt Sponsor

Going without is rarer than it sounds, but it has happened. Arsenal played three seasons with a plain shirt front during gaps in their JVC arrangement, in 1993-94, 1994-95 and 1999-00. Wimbledon started the inaugural 1992-93 season unsponsored, West Ham United did the same in 1997-98, and West Bromwich Albion went a season without a front-of-shirt partner in 2008-09.

Premier League Shirt Sponsors FAQs

Here are answers to the questions we are asked most often about Premier League shirt sponsorship, the 2026-27 rule change and the longest-running deals.

Which Premier League club has had the same shirt sponsor for longest?

Arsenal. Emirates has appeared on the front of the Arsenal shirt every season since 2006-07, 21 consecutive campaigns up to 2026-27. Etihad Airways at Manchester City is next on 18 seasons.

Are gambling sponsors banned in the Premier League?

Only on the front of matchday shirts, and only from 2026-27. All 20 clubs agreed the voluntary ban in April 2023 with a three-season transition period. Betting brands can still sponsor shirt sleeves, training kit, stadium advertising and other club partnerships.

Who are the Premier League shirt sponsors for the 2026-27 season?

The third table above lists all of them. Long-standing deals continue at Arsenal (Emirates), Manchester City (Etihad Airways), Liverpool (Standard Chartered), Tottenham Hotspur (AIA), Brighton & Hove Albion (American Express) and Manchester United (Qualcomm Snapdragon), while Everton (CMC Markets), Newcastle United (KNOX Hydrate), Brentford (Indeed) and Nottingham Forest (Marex) are among the clubs starting the season with new partners.

How many shirt sponsors have Manchester United had in the Premier League?

Seven: Sharp, Vodafone, AIG, Aon, Chevrolet, TeamViewer and Qualcomm Snapdragon. That is the most of any club to have played in every Premier League season.

Which Premier League clubs have played without a shirt sponsor?

Arsenal in 1993-94, 1994-95 and 1999-00, Wimbledon in 1992-93, West Ham United in 1997-98 and West Bromwich Albion in 2008-09.

How long have Liverpool been sponsored by Standard Chartered?

Since 2010-11, which makes 2026-27 their 17th season together. Before that Liverpool wore Carlsberg for 18 straight seasons, meaning they have used only two shirt sponsors in the entire Premier League era.

Can Premier League clubs have a different sponsor for cup games?

Yes, and several have. Tottenham Hotspur ran Investec on cup shirts alongside Autonomy and then Aurasma in the league, and later paired hp in the league with AIA in cup competitions. Nottingham Forest even split home and away shirts between Shipstones and Labatt’s in 1992-93.

What replaced betting companies on Premier League shirts?

Mostly finance and fintech brands, alongside technology firms, airlines and tourism boards. Industry estimates put the annual revenue gap at around £80m across the league, because the replacement sectors generally pay less and sign shorter deals than the betting operators did.
