FIFA All-Time World Cup Updated

World Cup Winners by Club

World Cup winners by club: every player to win a FIFA World Cup, listed by their club, plus a ranking of the clubs with the most winners.

This is the complete record of World Cup winners by club: every player who has won a FIFA World Cup, grouped by the club they were contracted to at the time of the tournament. It is a different view of football’s greatest prize, one that shows which clubs have shaped World Cup history and how far the winners have spread across the game’s biggest leagues.

Italian and German clubs dominate the all-time picture. Juventus top the table, having supplied more World Cup winners than any other club, ahead of Bayern Munich and the Milan side listed here under its historic name, Ambrosiana-Inter. Brazilian and Uruguayan clubs such as Santos, Penarol and Nacional feature heavily in the early decades, reflecting an era when the world’s best played at home rather than in Europe.

What the club data reveals

Read across the years and one theme stands out: winning the World Cup no longer means playing at home. In the early tournaments almost every winner was based in their own country, from Uruguay’s 1930 squad drawn from Nacional and Penarol to Brazil’s 1958 and 1962 sides built around Santos, Botafogo and Fluminense. By the modern era that had reversed. Most of Argentina’s 2022 winners were contracted to European clubs, with Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain, Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa, Julian Alvarez at Manchester City and Enzo Fernandez at Benfica. Only a handful of that squad still played in Argentina.

That shift is why clubs from Italy, Germany, Spain, England and France dominate the all-time totals despite those nations not always winning the tournament themselves. A club can appear on this list through foreign players: Internazionale, for example, has supplied World Cup winners for Germany, Brazil, France and Argentina as well as Italy. For the wider context, browse our coverage of Serie A, the Bundesliga and the all-time Premier League, or catch up on how Spain won the 2026 World Cup.

World Cup winners by club: FAQs

Quick answers to the questions asked most about the clubs behind the players who have won the FIFA World Cup, covering the all-time leaders, the English clubs and how foreign-based winners are counted.

Which club has produced the most World Cup winners?

Juventus have supplied more World Cup winners than any other club, with 27 winners’ medals collected by their players across multiple tournaments. Bayern Munich are next on 24, followed by the Milan club listed here under its historic name Ambrosiana-Inter on 21.

Which English club has produced the most World Cup winners?

Arsenal lead the English clubs with seven World Cup winners, ahead of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, who each have five. Most of Arsenal’s winners came through overseas players, including France’s 1998 winners Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit and three of Germany’s 2014 squad.

Can a player win the World Cup while playing for a club abroad?

Yes. Players are counted here by the club they represented at the time of the World Cup, and that club can be in a different country to their national team. Many recent winners were based abroad, such as most of Argentina’s 2022 squad, who played across England, Spain, Italy, France and Portugal.

How is a club’s World Cup winners total counted?

Each winners’ medal counts once, so a player who wins the World Cup at two different clubs is credited to each of them. The club totals therefore reflect medals rather than individual players, which is why the two tables on this page are best read together.

Which country’s clubs appear most often?

Italian clubs appear most frequently across the all-time list, a reflection of Italy’s four World Cup titles and the number of overseas winners who played in Serie A. Brazilian, German, Spanish and Uruguayan clubs also feature heavily, with the balance shifting from South America towards Europe over time.
