Jurgen Klopp says judgement on Liverpool unfair

Jurgen Klopp has said that his side is being unfairly judged, with injuries affecting the team. Liverpool are in a slump of form and has lost their last two Premier League games.

It is unusual to see Liverpool languishing in mid-table after being hailed as a contender for the Premier League this term. The Reds have struggled badly, but their fans expect they will find their feet.

Liverpool have managed just four wins in 12 matches this campaign and has lost to teams they ordinarily should be beating. The loss to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are two of the most bitter losses and has left the Reds further down the log, with 13 points separating them from the league leaders.

The situation is such that Liverpool needs a renewed surge of form to start talking of a chase for the top four rather than winning the title. Many thought a keenly contested affair last season, with Manchester City winning the league on the final day, would see Liverpool give the Citizens a sterner contest.

Jurgen Klopp has, however, explained the poor form suffered by Liverpool this season.

Klopp says injuries have caused Liverpool to slump
With Liverpool trudging from one defeat to another, their campaign looks to have seriously derailed. Liverpool has won the league once since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, but repeating the feat has been the trick. Liverpool has found Manchester City a hard nut to crack, and their challenge for the title this season has kicked off poorly.

Liverpool have been the butt of criticism, but Klopp claims judgement on his side is unfair. The German tactician said injuries have ravaged the side. He claims his side is suffering because of the injuries bedevilling the club.

Liverpool have lost their last two Premier League matches, with losses to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. Nottingham Forest is bottom of the league and suffered a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend. It is why the critics have started creeping out of the woodwork. Liverpool sits ninth on the log and is closer to relegation than the top four.

Klopp says the critics are right
Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp has rarely been under scrutiny. The turf has changed, and there are questions about the team. Liverpool takes on Napoli in their final group game of the Champions League on Tuesday, and Klopp has accepted that it is okay to ask questions of his side. He, however, claims the team can only have a fair assessment later during the campaign.

Speaking ahead of the Napoli match, Klopp said they were out to do their job publicly, but they should reserve judgement for maybe at the end of the season. He also conceded that even if the criticism is unfair, it is normal, and that is their life. He admitted that they were right to ask questions of the team.

One of the criticisms levelled at Liverpool is the age of the squad. Of all the players in his team, nine are over 30, including vital players like – Thiago Alcantara, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Captain Jordan Henderson.

Klopp accepts that the issues are deep-rooted.
