Manchester United’s latest signing Lisandro Martinez has said that working with Erik Ten Hag will be intense. The Argentine defender believes Ten Hag would bring good football and a winning mentality to Manchester United.

The Red Devils were able to get another deal over the line, and the side took a new look. Despite the ambitions of the Mancunian side, many believe the club is not yet sincere. They have pointed fingers at players they see as deadwood, who should be nowhere near Old Trafford. United have been reluctant to touch any of these players. It has not raised the spirits among the rank of these sections of fans.

Manchester United finished sixth last season and have looked impressive in pre-season following the arrival of Erik Ten Hag. It is just pre-season – nothing serious as the real deal is less than two weeks away. Manchester United will be challenging city rivals Manchester City, traditional rivals Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal for a place in the top four. These sides have beefed up their squad, making it a war on the cards.

United’s latest signing, Lisandro Martinez, believes the Red Devils can do it and expressed his faith in Erik Ten Hag to deliver on the objective. The Argentine defender explains his experience with Ten Hag at Ajax.

Martinez believes in Ten Hag

Erik Ten Hag was a success at Ajax. The Dutchman led the Amsterdam side to several league titles and the Champions League semi-final, where they crashed out to Spurs. Following their downward trend and the disastrous three years under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a change needed to be made for the club to return to its former glory.

Taking the club back to their once successful regime would not come easy though, as the duo of Liverpool and Manchester City seem to be leagues ahead. Martinez believes if there is any man that can exorcise the Red Devils of their demons, it is Erik Ten Hag. Martinez worked with Ten Hag at Ajax and is in a solid position to speak about the Dutchman.

What to expect from Ten Hag

Lisandro Martinez was with Ten Hag at Ajax from 2019 to 2022. The Argentine defender has been a part of the success story at Ajax in the last three years. It is not surprising that Ten Hag went back to his former club to get the defender. With Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka dotting the defence line, it only makes sense to get players that can deliver on the goods.

The 24-year-old Argentine cost the Red Devils an initial £48m, with the deal rising to £56m. It shows the level of faith Ten Hag has in the Argentina international.

The versatile defender was named Ajax player of the year last season said Ten Hag helped him improve a lot. He is delighted at the opportunity to continue working with him and assured United fans that something good is coming to Old Trafford.

According to Martinez, it would be intense, but there would be good football, and he will restore a winning mentality to the club.
