Team News

Palmeiras may field a front three of Torres, Estêvão and Lopez, with Raphael Veiga pulling the strings in attacking midfield. Evangelista and Richard Ríos could continue to form the midfield pivot, while a defensive line of Marcos Rocha, Gustavo Gómez, Murilo, and Joaquín Piquerez is likely to protect goalkeeper Weverton.

Botafogo are expected to name an unchanged team with Igor Jesus looking to spearhead their attack. So much so that he’s got some Nottingham Forest fans excited as he will make a move to the City Ground by becoming Nuno Espirito Santo’s first summer signing.

Palmeiras possible starting lineup:
Weverton; Marcos Rocha, Gustavo Gómez, Joaquín Piquerez, Murilo; Ríos, Veiga, Evangelista; Torres, Estêvão, Lopez

Botafogo possible starting lineup:

John; Vitinho, Alex Telles, Alexander Barboza, Jair Cunha; Marlon Freitas, Allan, Gregore; Artur, Igor Jesus, Savarino

We say: Palmeiras 2-1 Botafogo

We expect Igor Jesus to cause some trouble for the Palmeiras defence, and in doing so, help Botafogo edge past Palmeiras in the Brazilian teams’ derby of the Round of 16.
