West Ham United have completed the signing of German forward Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £27 million. The 31-year-old striker, who transferred to Dortmund from Werder Bremen last summer, scored 15 goals in 46 appearances during the 2023-24 season, and played a key role in Dortmund’s journey to the Champions League final.

Fullkrug also made an impact on the international stage, scoring twice for host nation Germany in their run to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals, despite not starting any matches. The experienced forward has committed to a four-year contract with the Hammers Squad and expressed his excitement about joining the Premier League.

“I’m thrilled to be here and eager to join my new team-mates on the pitch,” Fullkrug stated. “I believe the Premier League is the top league in the world, and it’s the perfect time for me to come to England and play for a renowned club like West Ham.”

The German striker also highlighted his long-standing interest in West Ham and his familiarity with the club’s technical director, Tim Steidten, due to their shared history at Werder Bremen. Fullkrug has been following West Ham closely and is impressed with the team’s quality.

Niclas Fullkrug becomes the fifth addition to the squad by new West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui this summer. The Hammers have also brought in former Wolves captain Max Kilman for £40 million, Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for over £25 million, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United, and Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for £25.5 million.

West Ham, who secured a ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season, are actively pursuing further reinforcements. They are currently interested in acquiring Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.
