Chelsea secured a dominant victory over Brighton, climbing to fourth in the Premier League table as Cole Palmer delivered a standout performance, netting four goals in the first half. The Blues’ rapid attack thrived against Brighton’s high defensive line, leading to a thrilling, action-packed game at Stamford Bridge.

The match got off to an electric start, with Brighton’s insistence on pressing high leaving space for Chelsea’s forwards to exploit. Despite the visitors’ early lead, thanks to a Georginio Rutter header, it was Palmer who stole the spotlight. The 22-year-old nearly opened the scoring earlier, hitting the post and having a goal ruled out for offside within a matter of minutes.

Palmer finally broke through when he converted from Nicolas Jackson’s pass, marking the beginning of a remarkable individual display. His second came soon after, calmly dispatching his 10th consecutive penalty for the Blues following a foul on Jadon Sancho. Palmer’s hat-trick was sealed in spectacular fashion with a sublime 25-yard free-kick, leaving the home crowd in awe.

While Palmer was unstoppable, Brighton managed to offer a glimmer of hope midway through the first half. Carlos Baleba capitalized on a poor clearance from Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, pulling one back for the Seagulls. However, Brighton’s brief resurgence was swiftly extinguished when Palmer scored his fourth, slotting home from a precise Sancho pass.

After a frenzied first half, the second period was comparatively quiet. Chelsea, in full control of the match, focused more on maintaining their lead. Palmer had an opportunity to add a fifth goal to his tally but fired wide, sparing Brighton further embarrassment.

While Chelsea’s attacking prowess was on full display, Brighton will likely regret their defensive approach, which proved costly. The victory marks yet another significant step for Chelsea as they continue their rise under new management, while Brighton’s young coach Hurzeler faced his first taste of defeat.
