Borussia Dortmund has officially announced the acquisition of striker Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart. The forward joins Die Schwarzgelben for €18 million, fulfilling the release clause in his Stuttgart contract. Guirassy has committed to Dortmund until 2028.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Guirassy stated, “When Borussia Dortmund comes calling, it’s a unique opportunity. Every football-loving child globally recognizes this club, the iconic black and yellow kits, and the Yellow Wall. I’m thrilled about all of it, and meeting my new teammates. It’s crucial for me to say: I came here to win titles. That’s my ambition and motivation. Last year, the club demonstrated its potential by reaching the Champions League final.”

The transfer was initially uncertain due to an injury concern. However, a second medical examination confirmed that Guirassy does not require surgery. He will follow a specific recovery program to address the issue.

Guirassy had an outstanding previous season, netting 30 goals in 30 matches, aiding Stuttgart in securing a Champions League spot for the first time in 14 years, and reaching the DFB Pokal quarter-finals. His arrival at Dortmund raises questions about the futures of the club’s other strikers, Niclas Füllkrug, Youssoufa Moukoko, and Sebastien Haller, given the increased competition for the forward positions.
