Sky Germany has revealed that Michael Olise will be absent from Bayern Munich’s pre-season activities. On Sunday evening, Bayern confirmed the acquisition of Olise from Crystal Palace, a transfer that could amount to €60 million. Despite the significant investment, the young winger won’t feature prominently for the club at the beginning of the season.

Olise has been selected for France’s squad for the Olympic Games in Paris. The 22-year-old is expected to play an important role under coach Thierry Henry as the home team aims for a gold medal. France is in Group A, set to compete against the USA, Guinea, and New Zealand. The Olympic final is scheduled for August 9th, resulting in Olise missing much of Bayern’s pre-season period.

Bayern Munich will commence their pre-season on July 17th and will then embark on an Asian tour from July 31st to August 5th. Additionally, they have a match against Tottenham Hotspur on August 10th as they prepare for the new season. Bayern’s first official game will be on August 16th in the DFB-Pokal against SSV Ulm.

Although Olise will be absent during these preparatory weeks, he is anticipated to be a key player for Bayern in the upcoming season. Once he integrates into the team, Olise aims to secure the right-wing position, having previously shone in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.
