My Football Facts has published football statistics, records and trivia since 15 April 2009. This page explains who writes it, where the numbers come from, and what we do when we get something wrong.
Who we are
My Football Facts was founded by Paul Yarden, who is still its owner and chief editor. Paul has collected football data for decades. It began with Tottenham Hotspur, moved into spreadsheets in 1995 and grew to cover English and world football. Every article carries the name of its author, and each author has a page listing their work. The editorial team includes Jennifer Jardine, Brian Beard, Ben Jardine, Harvey Watkins, Martin Graham and Fiona Harvey.
Where our data comes from
- Our own historical database, built and checked by hand since the 1990s.
- Live and recent match data from Statorium, a licensed football data provider.
- Official competition and club sources, including governing bodies and club websites, used to check records and historical results.
Where figures differ between sources, which is common for older seasons, we say so on the page and explain which figure we use.
Keeping pages up to date
Our editors update statistics pages by hand as each season progresses, and each page shows the date it was last updated. Trivia questions and their answers are reviewed when the record they describe changes.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our contact form, with the page, the correct figure and a source if you have one. We check every report. When we correct a page, we update it and its “last updated” date, and significant corrections are noted on the page. We usually fix issues within two to three working days.
Advertising and independence
My Football Facts is funded partly by advertising. Advertisers and partners have no say over our statistics or what we write. Sponsored and affiliate content is clearly labelled.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to help draft some articles and to speed up routine data tasks. Every figure is checked against our own database or the sources listed above, and every article is reviewed and edited by a named member of the editorial team before publication. AI tools are not a source of our statistics.
