Al-Ain vs Juventus

Judging by the latest data on football facts, Juventus will aim to kick off their FIFA Club World Cup campaign with a victory when they face Al-Ain at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., on June 18, 2025.

Al-Ain, representing the UAE Pro League, qualified as the 2023-24 AFC Champions League winners, while Juventus secured their spot as one of UEFA’s top-ranked teams over the past four years. Both teams are in Group G alongside Manchester City and Wydad AC.

Match Preview

Al-Ain comes into the match after a mixed domestic season, finishing fifth in the UAE Pro League with a defensive record that saw them concede 32 goals in 26 games. Their attacking output, led by players like Soufiane Rahimi, has been potent, but they face a stern test against a Juventus side known for their tactical discipline.

Juventus, head coach Igor Tudor, have had an inconsistent Serie A campaign but showed resilience in their recent 2-3 win at Venezia. The Bianconeri average 1.5 goals per match in Serie A, but their defence has been vulnerable, keeping just two clean sheets in their last eight competitive outings.

Historically, these two sides have never met, making this an intriguing clash of styles. Al-Ain’s high-pressing, attack-minded approach will be pitted against Juventus’s structured 3-4-2-1 formation, which relies on quick transitions and the creativity of players like Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz.

Al-Ain’s recent form includes a strong AFC Champions League run, but their domestic struggles suggest vulnerabilities, especially against top-tier opposition. However, their recent defensive record is exceptional, as they have kept clean sheets in six of their last seven matches.

Juventus, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency, winning only four of their last eight matches across all competitions. However, the experience of players like Weston McKennie and Vlahovic could prove decisive in a tournament setting.

The stakes are high in Group G, with only the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage. A win could set the tone for both sides’ campaigns in this expanded 32-team tournament.

Team News

Al-Ain:
Coach Vladimir Ivic is likely to rely on Soufiane Rahimi, the AFC Champions League season 2023/24 top scorer, to lead the attack. Kodjo Laba and Alejandro Romero (Kaku) could flank him in a dynamic front three.

In midfield, Park Yong-woo and Mohammed Al-Baloushi are expected to provide balance, while Khalid Eisa should start in goal. Defensively, Erik and Khaled Al-Blooshi will need to be at their best to contain Juventus’s attacking threats.

Juventus:
Igor Tudor may opt for his preferred 3-4-2-1 setup, with Dusan Vlahovic as the focal point up top. Weston McKennie and Andrea Cambiaso are likely to operate as wing-backs, providing width and energy.

Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz could play in advanced midfield roles behind Vlahovic, with Douglas Luiz and Marcus Thuram anchoring the midfield. The back three of Pierre Kalulu, Federico Gatti, and Renato Veiga will aim to neutralise Al-Ain’s attacking threat, with Emiliano Di Gregorio in goal.

Al-Ain possible starting lineup:
Eisa; Erik, Hashemi, Al-Blooshi, Autonne; Park, Al-Baloushi, Nader; Laba, Romero, Rahimi

Juventus possible starting lineup:
Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Gatti, Veiga; McKennie, Luiz, Thuram, Cambiaso; Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic

We say: Al-Ain 1-2 Juventus

Al-Ain’s attacking flair could trouble Juventus, especially given the Bianconeri’s defensive inconsistencies. However, Juventus’s experience in high-stakes matches and the individual quality of players like Vlahovic and Koopmeiners should give them the edge. We predict a narrow victory for Juventus, but Al-Ain are capable of making it a competitive affair.
