Season Overview:

The 2002/03 Premier League season saw Manchester United reclaim the title from Arsenal, finishing five points ahead after a strong second half of the season. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s prolific goal-scoring and United’s late surge saw them overtake Arsenal, who had led for much of the campaign.

Chelsea secured a top-four finish ahead of Liverpool, which would later prove crucial as Roman Abramovich completed his takeover in the summer. Newcastle finished third, securing Champions League football for the second consecutive season.

At the bottom, West Ham suffered a heartbreaking relegation despite finishing with 42 points, a record-high total for a relegated side. West Brom and Sunderland joined them, with Sunderland setting a new record for the lowest points total (19) at the time.
