Tottenham Hotspur has completed the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, with the deal potentially reaching £65 million. The agreement sees Spurs paying an initial £55 million, with an extra £10 million available through performance-related bonuses. The 26-year-old forward has signed a contract running until 2030, becoming Tottenham’s fourth new recruit this summer, following the arrivals of Yang Min-hyuk, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray.

Speaking to Spurs TV, Solanke expressed his excitement about joining the club, citing its ambitions as a major draw. “Tottenham is a massive club with goals that match my own,” Solanke said. “I’m eager to meet the team and get started. The club’s direction, the quality of the management, and the playing style really appeal to me. I can’t wait to show what I can do on the pitch.”

Manager Ange Postecoglou has been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer. Solanke, who has one England cap to his name, now steps into the fold as a significant addition to Spurs’ attacking lineup.

Solanke’s career began at Chelsea, where he twice lifted the FA Youth Cup. Despite his youth team success, he made only one senior appearance for the Blues and spent the 2015-16 season on loan with Vitesse Arnhem. In May 2017, he moved to Liverpool after his Chelsea contract expired, but found first-team chances hard to come by, scoring just once in 27 outings.

Bournemouth secured Solanke’s services in January 2019 for £19 million. Over his time with the Cherries, he scored 77 goals across 216 games, enjoying a standout 2023-24 season with 21 goals in 42 matches. His performances caught Tottenham’s eye, as they sought to strengthen their forward options.

Liverpool, having secured a 20% sell-on clause during Solanke’s move to Bournemouth, stands to benefit from the profit generated by this transfer. Bournemouth CEO Neill Blake praised Solanke’s conduct during the transfer negotiations and thanked him for his dedication to the club over the years. Blake noted the record fee as a positive outcome for Bournemouth, while wishing Solanke well in his future endeavors.

Solanke is expected to be at Tottenham Stadium for Spurs’ pre-season match against Bayern Munich on Saturday at 17:30 BST. His Premier League debut for the club could take place on August 19th when Spurs face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
