Following the confirmation of Alvaro Carreras’ arrival earlier this week, Real Madrid now find themselves with a complete 25-man roster. As a result, the club has turned its attention to player exits. Fran Garcia and Rodrygo Goes are reportedly among those who could be moved on, and Dani Ceballos may also be included in that group.
Despite enjoying a positive individual campaign last season—during which he earned a place in the starting lineup for a consistent stretch—Ceballos is not currently viewed as a central figure under Xabi Alonso’s leadership. His limited role in the Club World Cup squad and the anticipated return of Eduardo Camavinga suggest that his opportunities may become more restricted. Additionally, the potential addition of another midfielder could further reduce his playing time.
Uncertain future for Ceballos despite interest from Betis
Ceballos is currently inclined to remain at the club, though his stance may shift if another midfielder is signed. A possible return to Real Betis, where he previously played, remains an option. The Andalusian side has maintained an interest in bringing him back for several years.
While Alonso is reportedly in favor of keeping Ceballos, Real Madrid’s overall position is less definitive. According to Marca, no clear decision has been made regarding whether the 28-year-old will be allowed to depart during this transfer window.
Even if the club gives the green light for a move, a transfer is not assured. The €20 million valuation set by Real Madrid could be a stumbling block, especially for Spanish clubs like Betis. On top of that, his current salary would pose another significant financial challenge. Although Ceballos demonstrated last season that he can perform at a high level, securing a new club under these terms remains a complex issue.
