Italy’s head coach, Luciano Spalletti, has unveiled the final squad set to compete in the upcoming European Championships, which are just days away. Despite having one last friendly against Turkey on the horizon, Spalletti has made his final selections following the recent performances.
Last-minute exclusions
Samuele Ricci, Ivan Provedel of Lazio, and Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini are the notable exclusions from the final list. The decision between Torino’s Ricci and Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli was particularly tight, with Fagioli securing his spot in the team.
Italy’s goalkeeping trio includes Alex Meret, Gigio Donnarumma, and Guglielmo Vicario. Injuries have forced changes in defense, with Giorgio Scalvini and Francesco Acerbi out and Federico Gatti stepping in as their replacement.
Complete Azzurri lineup
The midfield selection features Nicolo Barella, Nicolo Fagioli, Roma’s Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini, Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho, Davide Frattesi, and Jorginho.
The forward line is bolstered by the inclusion of Federico Chiesa, Stephan El Shaarawy, Giacomo Raspadori, Mateo Retegui, Gianluca Scamacca, and Mattia Zaccagni.
