London Clubs in the Top Flight of English Football from Season 1904-05 to 2011-12
Historically, London consisted of the City of London and the City of Westminster. No football clubs were located in these areas.
As London expanded during the reign of Queen Victoria, huge chunks of the surrounding home counties, such as Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Essex, Surrey
and Kent were incorporated into the Metropolitan area of London.
For the purposes of this table, a club is considered to be in London if it is located inside the M-25 London Orbital Motorway.
Four London Football League clubs have never played in the Top Flight - Thames Association, Barnet, Dagenham & Redbridge and AFC Wimbledon.
