In 1992. the First Division clubs resigned from the Football League en masse. and on 27 May 1992 the FA Premier League was formed as a limited company working out of an office at the Football Association’s then headquarters in Lancaster Gate. This meant a break-up of the 104-year-old Football League that had operated until then with four divisions; the Premier League would operate with a single division and the Football League with three.

Barclays Premier League season is from May to August, each club plays 38 matches.  The number of clubs in the Premier League decreased from 22 in 1992-93 to just 20 three seasons later. It has remained at 20 clubs since season 1995-96. A new regulation introduced for the 2010-11 season is that every Premier League club must name a maximum squad of 25 players and these, together with an unlimited number of players 21 years old or younger, will be the only ones allowed to participate until the January transfer window.

Manchester United were awarded 14 penalties the most penalties awarded in Premier League All-Time History. The most Premier League Penalties scored in a season were 85 in 2009-10. The most total penalties awarded in a season were 106 penalties in 2009-10 and 2016-17.  Frank Lampard holds the record the Most All-Time Premier League Penalties Scored.

The Top 5 All-Time Premier League Goal Scorers are Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Andrew Cole, Sergio Agüero and Frank Lampard. EPL Top Scorer 2020-21 was Harry Kane.  As of March 2022 Thiery Henry is the best Premier League Striker. Sergio Aguero has scored the most Premier League Hat-Tricks with 12. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is the only player to score three Hat-Tricks against the same club (Norwich City). The first Perfect Premier League Hat-Trick scored was by Mark Robins from Norwich City against Oldham Athletic on 9th November 1992.
