Who Will Claim the Premier League Crown Next Season?
It’s no secret that the biggest favourites for the Premier League trophy are Manchester City and Liverpool. That’s the reality right now – although there are several teams in play for the PL title, sooner or later City and Liverpool emerge as the leading candidates, with Manchester City winning its second PL title in a row last year.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise. Guardiola’s City is a well-oiled machine with top players at all positions. Even if the team faltered for a bit last year, the bench depth and Guardiola’s winning mentality is what brought the Citizens yet another title. Liverpool could have very well been the champion, but Klopp’s focus on the Champions League opened the door for City.
The best online bookies in 2019 have rightfully named City and Liverpool the favourites once again. They haven’t identified any other team that can eventually win the league and we think they’re right. City tops the list @ 4/6, with Liverpool just behind at 9/4. Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal are behind but with much shorter odds. As you can see, City’s odds aren’t very attractive for punters, so you may be better off with another betting favourite. The question is, who can really challenge City and Liverpool?
At 16/1, bookies have Tottenham as the third major betting favourite for next year’s Premier League. That’s a far cry from City’s odds, but if you think that Pochettino’s team can surprise everyone, you stand to earn a solid sum of cash.
Tottenham made a step forward last season after progressing to the Champions League final. Many saw it a surprise, yet the reality is that Tottenham is a fine-tuned squad with great players. Harry Kane is out of this world, and arrivals such as Lucas Moura really gave Tottenham a kick. So, when it’s all said and done, writing Tottenham off may be a mistake.
Chelsea and Manchester United are inseparable behind Tottenham. Both with odds of 25/1, it’s not exactly clear if Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s new manager or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can lead their clubs to glory. Chelsea’s transfer ban further complicates matters for the Blue, while Pogba’s transfer saga may eventually hurt United’s title chances, no matter who he decides to sign for. Since Manchester United doesn’t have a transfer ban in place, it has already started making squad changes and further improvements are expected. With the right signings, United can shoot to the top and possibly even challenge the top two favourites.
When it comes to Arsenal, the Gunners are ranked the lowest among the 6 top Premier League betting favourites (40/1). Considering the fact that Arsenal is yet to make a quality signing, Unai Emery’s side will have to work hard to make any meaningful result. Plus, Aubameyang’s reported departure to Manchester United of all teams isn’t really a harbinger of good news. If Aubameyang, who was one of the top PL goalscorers last year, leaves, the Gunners will have a hard time finding a striker that fits their profile. The forward market isn’t exactly an open book – no one’s willing to depart from a good striker. At least not for cheap, and we know that Arsenal doesn’t like to spend like some of the other favourites.
Just like always, the new season of the Premier League is sure to bring plenty of excitement and shock. We’re not going to tell you who you should bet on – the PL is a wild ride where nothing is for sure. If you’re a footie fan and a punter at that, don’t miss the opportunity to place a bet on your favourite. After all, it could be worth a lot in May.
