Transfer news: Spurs not worried about Harry Kane future

Tottenham Hotspur are not worried about the prospect of Harry Kane leaving the club in the summer, according to reports.

The 29-year-old striker is just coming off his best season but despite his best efforts, Spurs failed to make anything of themselves. They ended the season in eighth place, which sees them miss out totally on European football in the 2023/24 season.

Kane, with his 30-goal league season, is now confined to domestic competition except he calls it quits with the club in the summer.

This possibility exists as Manchester United have made him their top summer signing priority and are reportedly ready to spare no expense in taking the England Three Lions captain to Old Trafford from the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Kane has one year left on his Spurs contract and is stalling talks of a renewal, which club chairman Daniel Levy is desperate to get out of the way. To ward off interested clubs, Levy and his upper management have set a price range of £100 million for Kane.

Financially, this would be a risk for a player who is soon to be on the wrong side of thirty with one season left in his old contract.

New reports indicate that despite United’s best efforts and the sluggishness of the renewal talks with Kane, Tottenham are more optimistic than they have been about keeping the striker, who broke into the Premier League 200 club this season.

Levy’s unwillingness to sell to a Premier League rival is chief among the reasons why the club is confident of keeping Kane next season. The price tag attached to him is already warding off the interested parties from other European top divisions and United are the only top side left in the race.

It may be an exercise in futility for the Red Devils thanks to the Spurs’ chairman’s stance on selling Kane to a Premier League club.

UEFA Champions League football may appeal to Kane and he could choose to force a move away, this time with more vim than when he almost joined Manchester City. However, the allure of breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal-scoring record of 260 could make Kane remain at Spurs where he is certainly the main man.

The summer will be interesting as it will also see Spurs looking for a new coach who can take Kane and his teammates to the next level.
