Manchester United approve £80 million war chest for purchase of Spurs ace

Manchester United have approved an £80 million transfer budget for the purchase of Harry Kane, according to reports.
The Red Devils have earmarked the striker position as a key position in their recruitment plans for next summer. Erik ten Hag has his eyes on a number of them, but the club has had their eyes on the Tottenham Hotspur man for a while.
He would fit right into ten Hag’s plans at Old Trafford and offer them a lot in terms of goal-scoring and chance creation. However, they are not the only club that hold an interest in the striker, whose contract with the North London club expires in the summer of 2024.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are said to be interested in the England Three Lions captain, who recently broke the record for the most goals scored for England in the ongoing international break.
The Germans see him as a perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who they have been unable to replace since his departure to Barcelona at the beginning of the season. Madrid, on the other hand, are looking for an immediate replacement for Karim Benzema, 35, who just signed a new one-year deal while the club fishes for his replacement.
Both clubs are said to be preparing a move for Kane in the summer despite Spurs’ unwillingness to let him go.
United, however, are the only club that has now been reported to be ready to make a bid, with the news of their prepared £80 million transfer budget now making the rounds. The report also claims that United are going to make their move in the coming weeks as they are eager to complete the deal before the summer.
This comes on the back of Steven Gerrard’s advice to the player to make a decision about his club future following his record breaking and setting goals for England in the ongoing international break.
Kane has scored over 250 goals for Spurs since his debut in 2015 to become their all-time record goalscorer and only one of three men to cross the 200-goal mark in the Premier League. However, he is yet to win anything of note with Spurs or with England.
It is believed that a move to a title-winning side will help him get into the mentality of winning to help his prospects as England captain and his prospects as an England football legend when he finally hangs up his boots.
