Gabriel Jesus set for March return as injury recovery progresses positively

Gabriel Jesus is making headway in his recovery from surgery and could return in March, according to Charles Watts.

The English football journalist made this known on his YouTube channel where he also spoke about the circumstances surrounding the Brazilian’s return.

Jesus was slated to return in March as Watts mentioned but doctors also suggested that he could make an early return for February. The 25-year-old also shared updates with his social media followers which gave the club hope that their squad will be strengthened as they go into the business end of the season.

However, those early predictions by the doctors have now fallen though and the originally scheduled return date looks to be the feasible case thanks to new information from Watts.

“He’s come back to London Colney,” Watts said. “He arrived, at my understanding, on Tuesday, so he’s been here for a couple of days now, and this is the point where he’s really stepping up his recovery.

“He’s going to be working alongside the medical team now, in a carefully mapped-out routine to try to get him back out on the pitch.

“I don’t think he’s imminently expected to return, by any means, but this is still good news for Arsenal, that at the moment, everything’s on track in terms of his recovery.

“They’d been working towards getting him back at some point next month and that is still on track.”

In his absence, Eddie Nketiah has deputised very well and is one of the club’s top performers since the season resumed following the World Cup break.

Arsenal lost their first match since Gabriel Jesus last played for them over the weekend, coming back with nothing following a trip to Everton. Luckily for them, title holders Manchester City fell to their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to keep the points gap at five.

Arsenal looked to bring in a striker in the January transfer window but were unable to find one for the price they wanted, instead settling for the experience of Leandro Trossard to bolster their attack.

With Jesus back in the squad for the rest of the season, they could seal a momentous win in the English top flight after 19 years.

He will, however, have to work hard to take back his spot from Nketiah, seeing as the England youth legend has made a solid case for the starting spot in the team.

Arsenal face off against Brentford next in the Premier League with all their hopes riding on the London derby.
