Pep Guardiola is keen to sign Toni Kroos from Real Madrid. The 32-year-old has a Real Madrid contract that expires next summer.

The vultures are circling, and Real Madrid is the ground to find the meal. The massively successful Los Blancos has worked a model that has seen them dominate European football in the last decade. They have successfully held their core together for long, and it has worked a treat, as they have won the Champions League more times than any other side this century.

It seems clubs seeking to replicate their success go to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to scavenge on the remnants of their successful squad. First, Paris Saint-Germain signed Keylor Navas, then Sergio Ramos from Los Merengues. Manchester United followed suit as they snapped Raphael Varane and Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Manchester City seem to believe that the elixir for success in the Champions League is to poach Real Madrid players in the twilight of their careers. The Citizens have their eyes on one of Los Blancos midfielders, who has been a vital component of the Champions League success from 2015 to 2018. Pep Guardiola wants to sign Toni Kroos next season.

Manchester City Eye Toni Kroos

Toni Kroos is a wanted man. The Real Madrid midfielder has enjoyed plenty of success with the Spanish giants. He has enjoyed the admiration of many and is considered one of the best midfielders of his generation. The German is coming to the end of his career but might fancy a swing in the Premier League.

Toni Kroos has a contract with Real Madrid that expires at the end of the season, and Manchester City hopes to snare the midfielder on a free transfer. The Citizens are willing to dole out the cash. They want to tempt the midfielder with massive wages to get an agreement ahead of next season.

Toni Kroos has won all there is to win in football. The 32-year-old has won the World Cup with Germany, three La Liga titles and the Champions League four times while in Spain and might fancy a new challenge in the Premier League.

Toni Kroos: A future away from La Liga?

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Manchester City has approached the midfielder. They seek to tie him to a deal worth an estimated £230,000-a-week. Several other clubs remain on high alert as the future of Toni Kroos is not yet clear.

The midfielder, who has a history with Pep Guardiola, could join the English champions in a deal worth £12.2million per year. It is an increase on his current wages in Spain.

Toni Kroos made 51 appearances under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola while at Bayern Munich. While at Bayern, they lost to Real Madrid at the semi-final stage of the Champions League in 2013/14 but won the Bundesliga.

Together with Casemiro and Luka Modric, they formed a trio that dominated Europe but broken up in the summer, with the Brazilian joining Manchester United.

Toni Kroos spoke about his future and said he would discuss it in either January, February or March. Kroos described his relationship with Guardiola as unique, suggesting he would be keen for a reunion.

Real Madrid wants to keep the midfielder at the Santiago Bernabeu for another season.
