Jurgen Klopp has come to bat for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after recent criticism. The England international was dropped for the recent England games against Italy and Germany.

Liverpool and Chelsea, two Premier League stalwarts tipped to challenge for the title this term, are not having the best of starts. After six matches, Liverpool trails Chelsea by a point as they sit eight on the log with nine points. The morale is low as Liverpool struggles to get back on track.

Outside thrashing Bournemouth 9-0, Liverpool has scored only six Premier League goals, with some players coming in for criticism. Some of the players criticized for the poor form of Liverpool are Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the butt of heavy criticism with debates over his form and if he is worthy of making the England national team to the World Cup. The right-back did not make the last England international games, with the decision raising a furore. Jurgen Klopp has, however, come to the defence of the Englishman.

Jurgen Klopp defends Alexander-Arnold

Jurgen Klopp has recently played the advocate for some players, particularly right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The German tactician has been talking up the game despite several injury absentees in his side.

Following the injuries to several squad members, Klopp has had to defend the qualities of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. Following the snub of the defender by Gareth Southgate during the recent international matches, Jurgen Klopp insists that Trent Alexander-Arnold is a good defender. He also said the “world-class player” will always be in his team.

The recent incidents have raised doubts over the place of the 22-year-old in England’s team in the World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold: Back at Liverpool

The England full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is disappointed at his situation with the England setup and is sweating over making it to the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Following the snub by Gareth Southgate, Alexander-Arnold is back with Liverpool and has the opportunity to prove to the England manager that he is good enough to start for the Three Lions.

Alexander-Arnold started against Brighton and Hove Albion, with Jurgen Klopp stating his confidence in the 22-year-old, though the game ended in a 3-3 stalemate to continue the Reds’ poor form.

Regardless, the Liverpool manager claims the perception about Alexander-Arnold is wrong. Klopp, however, confessed that they were working on improving his consistency levels.
