Real Madrid to battle Liverpool for Jude Bellingham next summer

Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is now the subject of interest from both Real Madrid and Liverpool.  The two European giants hope to make a move for the England international in the summer of 2023.

It is a tale of two cities in Spain, with Real Madrid and Barcelona operating different policies in the transfer market. While the last couple of years has seen the European champions not as active as they usually are, Barcelona have gone crazy this summer.

Real Madrid have managed their transfer activities with a modicum of modesty as they seek to manage their books and avoid the kind of crisis at Barcelona. The Spanish giants want to get a few players out of the club before entertaining more signings.

The sale of multiple-time Champions League winner Casemiro to Manchester United has got the rumour mill agog again. Some rumours suggest the arrival of a new midfielder at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is imminent and link Real Madrid to the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham holds the aces on Real Madrid’s move

Real Madrid and Liverpool have had Jude Bellingham on their wish list but are yet to make a move for the Englishman. The two giants are set for a collision course as they fight for the signature of the brilliant midfielder.

No offers have come for Bellingham, but the midfielder will have the final say on whether he moves or stays at the Signal Iduna stadium. It will be an arduous task to prise the England international away from Borussia Dortmund this summer following the sale of Erling Haaland to Manchester City.

The German giants are not keen on entertaining any bids for Bellingham this summer. There were insinuations that Real Madrid might fast-track their interest in the player following the departure of Casemiro this summer. However, AS reports otherwise. According to the Spanish outlet, Real Madrid have pushed their interest in Bellingham till the summer of 2023.

The plan by Real Madrid is not good news for Liverpool, who also have the same idea for the England international. It would be tougher to go head-to-head with Los Blancos in a bid for the same target.

Who is Jude Bellingham?

Not too long ago, Jude Bellingham was an unknown entity, but the last couple of years has thrown him into the spotlight, with the youngster seen as a future star. The England international burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old. He hit the limelight in the Championship as a teenager for Birmingham City. The youngster made such an impact that Birmingham City retired his jersey number in his honour when he moved to Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham preferred a move to Dortmund over the approaches by top clubs in Europe. The youngster believed Dortmund was a better place for his development, but a goldfish has no hiding place, and only a matter of time before signing for a leading European club.

It is unlikely that Dortmund would be able to keep him at the Signal Iduna beyond this season as Real Madrid and Liverpool believe he is ready for the big stage. One more year at the BVB will help his development further as Real Madrid sniffs around him.

Should Real Madrid beat Liverpool to the punch, they would have an exciting midfield of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham.
