Cristiano Ronaldo is unwilling to remain at Manchester United beyond this summer and is seeking pastures anew.  The Red Devils want to keep the Portuguese international and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford.

The rebuilding process at Manchester United is going on earnestly but not yielding the desired results. The Red Devils have landed a couple of targets but are pressing on to land a few more players ahead of the new season.

Pre-season has been exciting under new manager Erik Ten Hag with the kind of results their fans want to see. Pre-season games have precipitated hope amongst the fans ahead of the new season, but the club is still sweating over some issues.

Manchester United are yet to make headway in their quest for Frenkie de Jong. The Red Devils are battling another problem at home. Barcelona are keen on selling Frenkie de Jong, with a deal in place, but the Dutchman wants a few issues resolved. On the flip side, Cristiano Ronaldo is adamant that his future lies away from Old Trafford and continues to angle to leave the club.

Ronaldo wants to leave

Manchester United are sweating over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has declared that he wants to leave the club. Ronaldo is uninterested in playing in the Europa League and is seeking a club that can afford him Champions League football.

Ronaldo was excused from the tour of Thailand and Australia, citing personal grounds. The exclusion has raised doubts about the player and his future at the club. Ronaldo and his representatives are clear on what they want – he wants out of Old Trafford.

Jorge Mendes has been seeking ways of getting Ronaldo into a Champions League side. The Portuguese superstar has had links to Bayern Munich and Chelsea, with nothing coming out of the speculations. Atletico Madrid was on the list of suggestions as a destination for Ronaldo, but a move has failed to materialize.

When will Ronaldo return to Manchester United? It remains unclear, especially if he fails to land a move away from Old Trafford. 90mins understands that the player will not object to playing whenever his services are required when the league restarts.

Martial to stay at United

Anthony Martial has been a subject of discussion at Manchester United. The Frenchman returned to Old Trafford at the end of last season after a failed loan spell at Sevilla. The 26-year-old did not impress at the Andalusian side and returned to Manchester United.

Following his failure at Sevilla, the forward has received a new lease of life. The Red Devils are keen to keep Martial after he impressed in the early weeks of pre-season under the watch of Erik ten Hag.

Martial lost his place to Cristiano Ronaldo last season, and after enduring a torrid spell at Sevilla where he scored just once, the French forward will hope to take hold of the opportunities handed to him this season.

The Red Devils were open to selling the Martial following his poor form. The high earning forward was a disappointment and was deemed surplus to requirements, but under Ten Hag, Martial has improved and is ready to stay.

Manchester United are still keen on signing Ajax winger Antony though both clubs are still a considerable way off an agreement.
