It’s no secret that there are some huge salaries involved in football. The reasons behind this are:
- Global appeal
- Broadcasting deals
- Club sponsorships
Essentially, clubs can afford to pay their players big bucks, which is why they go ahead and do it.
Unsurprisingly, fans want to know who earns the most. Forget about all the other details in their contracts: how much money are they making?

Kylian Mbappe
For months, it was rumoured that Mbappe would ditch PSG for Real Madrid (a club he idolises).
Sadly, this deal never came to happen. Instead, PSG offered Mbappe a new contract where he is going to earn roughly £100m per year (not including bonuses)!
In addition to all of this, Mr. Mbappe will also be allowed to have an insane amount of player power, as he will be given the final say in big money transfers that the club wants to make.
Essentially, PSG has poured everything into Mbappe and his potential, which is why he is now the highest-paid striker in the world.

Lionel Messi
Since moving to PSG in 2021, Messi has been earning around £620,000 a week.
For a player who is widely regarded as the best modern-day attacker of all time, this is perhaps a fair amount – especially when you consider that PSG has money to burn.
Currently, Messi is nearly halfway through his three year deal with PSG. It’s unlikely that he will leave the contract due to the fact he won’t earn more money at any other club unless he moves to one of China’s leagues.
Neymar
Neymar has underperformed on the pitch in recent years – but this hasn’t stopped him from earning around £600,000 per week.
However, PSG is looking to sell Neymar, which could mean his 2025 contract will end early. For now, Neymar fans will have to wait and see.
If Neymar is to have an excellent 2022 World Cup with Brazil, then there’s a high possibility that he will be able to demand a renewed contract for more money with PSG. If not, he will be open to offers from other clubs.
Cristiano Ronaldo
When Ronaldo made his long-awaited return to Manchester United back in 2021, he penned a two year deal worth £480,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Of course, this doesn’t take into account goal bonuses and other factors (remember, Ronaldo was Manchester United’s top goal scorer with 18 league goals last season).
In the summer of 2022, it’s currently rumoured that Ronaldo will leave Manchester United for Bayern Munich. However, is he willing to leave his huge salary behind with one year left on his deal?
