After taking over Tottenham Hotspur following a slow start to the season, new manager Antonio Conte did all he could with this side. A top four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League was something of a dream finish for Spurs fans.

Conte has done all that the club has asked of him. They are back in Europe’s elite competition once again but now the owners have to fully back their manager.

Supporters have been here before

Previous managers have been subtly critical of Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer policy in the past. Mauricio Pochettino claimed that the squad was in need of a painful rebuild towards the end of his reign. He wasn’t backed and was eventually sacked after a poor start to the 2019/20 season.

Antonio Conte has also intimated that the club needs to match his ambition. Tottenham can never emulate the spending power of Manchester City, but they need some star names in the summer. A focus on youth development is in place but it’s time for Spurs to shell out and attract talent that is already capable of delivering.

Tottenham’s Chances of Silverware

Betting markets for the 2022/23 Champions League will open shortly and Spurs will be down among the outsiders. The giants of European football such as Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG will doubtless start among the favourites.

Spurs fans will be quick to point out that they did make the final in 2019 so perhaps they shouldn’t be written off too quickly. It’s possible to track the club’s progress at Sbo.net where the best football betting sites will have markets in place throughout the season.

Odds are supplied by a panel of recommended betting sites and the figures will adjust as the Champions League progresses. While assessing those odds, site visitors can also take in news stories and blog posts relating to the UCL and to football in general.

Reviews of websites are included and, if any reader wants to get involved, each of those sportsbooks is welcoming new players. Subject to eligibility requirements and a secure sign up form, many of those outlets have a generous welcome promotion up for grabs.

Once that promo has been used, there may be ongoing offers for the life of the account. Customers can access a range of deposit methods to add necessary funds while customer services can help with any issues at any stage.

Once playing regularly, account holders will find additional sports, mobile betting and the potential to live stream top class football action.

It’s the site to follow in terms of betting on the Champions League but will squad reinforcements make Tottenham genuine contenders?

Tottenham Targets

For many seasons, there has been talk of Tottenham signing an effective back up striker to the prolific Harry Kane. As the next transfer window approaches, Spurs have been linked with some high profile players once again, including the Serie A pair of Paulo Dybala and Lautaro Martinez.

The need has been there in the past but it’s debatable this time around. Son Heung-Min has actually outscored Harry Kane this season and he ended up sharing the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer.

Strikers will continue to be linked but there are more vacancies in other areas of the pitch. Antonio Conte’s systems rely on effective wing backs and there is a shortage of those in the current Spurs squad. An attacking midfielder and a backup goalkeeper to Hugo Lloris may be higher up on the list of priorities.

Will Conte Succeed?

Tottenham’s Director of Football Fabio Paratici helped to turn the club’s fortunes through two impressive signings in the January transfer window. Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski quickly slotted into Conte’s system and both were instrumental in Spurs claiming a Champions League place.

Those signings proved that Tottenham can bring quality signings into the club. There is more work to be done but there are encouraging signs that Antonio Conte can bring the glory days back to Tottenham Hotspur. Chairman Daniel Levy just needs to prove to his manager that the club can match that ambition and that they will back him in this summer’s transfer market.
