Cricket may be England’s national sport, but football is, by far, England’s favorite sport. England is home to millions of football fans from all across the country, and some of the most popular, highly-regarded, and best football clubs of all time. All of this makes sense, when one considers the fact that football originated in England in the 19th century. In effect, England has been playing the sport that, today we know as football, far longer than anyone else in the world.

Anyone who knows anything about English football knows that the top tier of English football is the annual Premier League, which usually lasts from August until May, and where 20 of England’s best of the best clubs compete for the title of greatest. The 2021/22 Premier League is currently well under way, and we are going to take a look at the Football teams that are ranked highest, according to the League experts.

Manchester City

Manchester City has maintained its top rank from 2020/21 League in the 2021/22 Premier League as well. While the season didn’t start out on the right note, as in their first match against the Spurs, they lost 1 – 0, Manchester City has maintained a steady streak of victories, only interrupted three times, twice by a draw, and once by a loss. As of Dec 17, 2021, in the 2021/22 season they have played 17 matches, 13 of which they have won, becoming darlings in the football betting scene. the brand new bookmakers found here  show that Manchester City is a fan favorite club, and the odds on favorite to dominate the Premier League this season.

Their biggest win, undoubtedly came on 6 November 2021, against their long-term, bitter rival Manchester United. They won the match 0 – 2. The two losses came at the hands of the Spurs, and Crystal Palace, on 15 August and 30 October respectively.

Liverpool

Ranked second in the current Premier League, Liverpool has done almost everything right this season. While they have taken less losses than Manchester City (only one in the case of Liverpool), they also have won less matches, with 12 out of 17 matches won, and four ties this season. Their latest game against Newcastle ended in a spectacular victory for Liverpool, with a final score of 3 – 1. They went against Tottenham Hotspur on 19 December, and excitement was high among fans of both teams after an action-packed 2-2 draw at the New Spurs Stadium.

Chelsea

Ranked 3rd, and the last team we will be looking at today, is Chelsea. Like Liverpool, Chelsea has shown that their ranking is well earned, winning 11 out of the 17 matches that they played. Their first loss of the season came on Sep 25, against Manchester City, and a month before, they tied against Liverpool. Chelsea is scheduled to playWolverhampton Wanderers on 19 December, only a couple of days from now, with many predicting that Chelsea will come out on top.

Honorable Mentions

We would be remised if we didn’t mention some more of the top 10 ranked teams. Arsenal is currently fourth in the rankings, and is one of England’s favorite, and best teams, with West Ham United and Manchester United closely following the Gunners.
